What Happens When You Join BUSP?
During your freshman and sophomore years, you contract to participate in
the extensive BUSP activities described below. A BUSP Honors Research program
extends into the junior and senior years.
Academic Program
As freshmen, all biological sciences students take mathematics and chemistry.
As a BUSP student, you also enroll in a special pre-chemistry course and
supplemental classes in chemistry and calculus.
The classes you take through BUSP emphasize working in small groups and
help you develop strong problem-solving and study skills. The result is
excellent performance by BUSP students in their coursework. You also enroll
in English, in general education classes and a special biology course on
important topics in modern biology and health sciences.
During your sophomore year, you enroll in a special pre-organic chemistry
course and the introductory biology series, aided by BUSP study groups
and review sessions. As a sophomore BUSP student, you also take seminar
courses in professional skills development, such as résumé writing
and career exploration.
Advising Service
You meet regularly with program advisers throughout your freshman and sophomore
years. These advisers include professional and student-peer advisers in
the College of Biological Sciences, professors, and graduate students. |
